Looking for a Super Easy Veggie Pizza?

White Pizza with Broccoli and MushroomsThis would have to be it. The white cheese mushroom and broccoli (and tomato) extravaganza. Okay, maybe not an extravaganza, but it's quite tasty. So how to go about making this pizza?

Making the Pizza Toppings

Saute Mushrooms and Steaming Broccoli

White Mushroom Pizza - Saute VeggiesStart by pre-heating the oven to 425 degrees and have a pizza stone handy. Then, on top of the stove, heat 1.5 tsp of butter until melted on medium-high heat  in a medium sized saute pan (the broccoli is going in too once the mushrooms cook down so make sure there is room for those as well). Then pour 6 oz. sliced mushrooms into the butter and cook until soft and slightly brown, about 5 minutes. Then add 8 oz. of broccoli florets and 1/3 cup water, covered tightly to steam, about 3-4 minutes. Chop up one tomato but leave it to the side - off the heat (this was our add on to the original recipe).

Making the Pizza Sauce

White Mushroom Pizza - Cheese SauceMelt 1.5 Tbsp butter in saucepan over medium-high heat and once melted, add in 1 Tbsp of flour, blend fully and cook about 2 minutes until slightly brown. Then stir in 1 cup of milk (we used almond milk because we were out of milk... the results have yet to be tasted folks!), 2 cloves of minced garlic and a dash of salt. Cook this mixture for about 3-4 minutes until it thickens a bit and is fully blended together. Then add in 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella and 2 Tbsp. grated parmesan and stir until cheese is fully melted and sauce is smooth.

Buy the Pizza Dough

Buy Real New York Pizza Dough (hopefully available in your freezer section) or any other pizza dough you fancy and prep it to add the ingredients. We like to thaw it in the fridge overnight in an airtight container, lightly coated with olive oil. Then, we take it out of the fridge but keep it shut for the last hour or two before we are going to use it.

Load Up the Pizza

White Mushroom Pizza - Veggies and CheeseDough is rolled and ready and so is your sauce and ingredients. So, add the sauce first, spreading evenly. Then, add 1/4 cup more shredded mozzarella and 2 Tbsp. grated parmesan. Last, add the toppings - mushroom and broccoli mixture along with the chopped tomato. Put it in the oven and bake for 18-20 minutes and enjoy!

I never thought of making my

I never thought of making my own white pizza before, but the idea intrigues me.  For some reason, it seems like white pizza is something you would always order from a pizza place.  Maybe this is because I never really understood what was in the sauce.  However, because of your post, now I realize that the sauce is simple enough to make and it does not require too many crazy ingredients either.  I actually thought that there had to be some gourmet ingredients in order to make white pizza sauce, but it is actually just butter, milk and other things that most people have in their refrigerators.

I also think that buying pizza dough is the best idea.  Making your own pizza dough can be fun, and can make you feel proud, but it takes a lot of time, and most people fail for a long time until they get used to how to combine the ingredients and the exact amounts that the recipe calls for.
